The SBI PO Preliminary examination is conducted online with 100 objective questions totaling 100 marks, to be completed in 60 minutes. The exam consists of three sections: English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability, with each section having its own 20-minute time limit. A penalty of 0.25 marks applies for every incorrect answer. Candidates who meet the overall cut-off (no sectional cut-offs in Prelims) will progress to the Mains examination.

The SBI PO Mains examination comprises two components: an objective test and a descriptive test. The objective test contains 170 questions across four sections for 200 marks, with a total duration of 3 hours. Each section has its own time limit and candidates must meet sectional cut-offs. The descriptive test follows immediately, lasting 30 minutes and worth 50 marks, focusing on communication skills including emails, reports, situation analysis, and precis writing. A deduction of 0.25 marks applies for every incorrect answer in the objective test.

There will be 3 rounds to shortlist candidates for Probationary Officer posts i.e., Prelims, Mains & Interview. This year, a lot of changes have been made to its exam pattern.
70-75% is the expected cut-off for SBI PO and Clerk exams.
Application fee for SBI PO exam varies according to the categories. For General/ OBC category it is INR 750 and there is no fee for SC/ ST.
The maximum marks for Group Discussions (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) are 50 marks.
The descriptive test will consist of two questions, which include a letter and essay. The descriptive test is of a maximum 50 marks and must be attempted within 30 30-minute duration.
